This position will be based in Laredo, TX

Job Summary:
This position is responsible for general nursing care to patients under the direction of the registered nurse or team leader and administers prescribed medications.
 

Job Duties:

  1. Process patients into the transplant clinic. Do vital signs, get a change in health history. Complete Medication reconciliation and complete the Joint Commission. Standards of confirming right patient, allergy status and pain control.
  2. Complete Pre-Authorizations for medications and DME. Coordinate with MD's, insurance companies and pharmacies to complete this item. 
  3. Address secure health messaging. Call patients back and discuss their concern or question. Pull the most recent note in the EMR and labs and provide call and supporting documentation on the patient to the provider. 
  4. Input orders for labs, or other items as directed by the provider under the supervision of an RN. 
  5. Documentation in patient EMR for patient visit or procedure using sunrise templates for the appropriate organ patient type. 
  6. Perform blood draws and specimen collection and placement of IV for infusion or admissions. 
  7. Competent in the operation of the clinic & Joint Commission Standards for functional working area maintaining the area to avoid deficiencies in clean work area, fire drill & safety, POCT logs, ability to answer to questions during a tracer on disaster readiness.
Education:
High school or GED and Associates degree from an approved vocational nursing school is required. LVN degree concentration and BLS.
 
Experience:
Three (3) - Five (5) years of vocational nursing experience with Clinical, i.e., clinic setting or bedside type of experience is required.
 
Preferred Qualification:
Patient assessment, for medical history, vital signs, medication reconciliation. Specimen collection: blood draws, fluids from procedures. Excellent Communication and computer skills. Spanish required.
