Department of Comprehensive Dentistry

 

The Department of Comprehensive Dentistry at the UT Health San Antonio School of Dentistry is seeking applications for a full-time faculty position focused on providing pre-clinical and clinical instruction for dental students. Applicants must have a D.D.S. or D.M.D. and preferably completed an AEGD or GPR program and/or have extensive broad-based general dentistry clinical experience. Academic rank and salary are commensurate with education, experience, and qualifications. The positions would entail course administration and instruction in the preclinical courses and in the clinic. We employ multiple teaching methods including case-based instruction, large-and small-group discussion, lecture, demonstration, and simulation. The positions would also include participation in clinical practice of general dentistry.

The School of Dentistry was founded in 1970 and graduated its first class of 14 members in 1974. The School rapidly rose to a level of national and international distinction. Today, the School graduates more than 100 dentists every year. With more than 200 dedicated full-time faculty members in 10 fields of study, the School of Dentistry is on the cutting edge of both oral health research and the delivery of patient care. The School has consistently ranked in the top of all schools of dentistry in the country, and is currently ranked 7th among all dental schools for the number of grants received from the National Institutes of Health. The School has 562 students enrolled in the 2020-2021 School Year, which includes students in the DDS Program, Post-doctoral/Advanced Education, and Dental Hygiene. The School of Dentistry mission is to improve oral health through excellence in education, research, patient care, and community engagement.
