The School of Health Professions at UT Health San Antonio invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position that includes the oversight and direction of its new PhD Health Sciences program and the establishment of the proposed B.S. Health Sciences program.  The doctoral program will have three concentrations/tracks focused on Education, Leadership, and Research/Statistics.  The baccalaureate program will be designed to prepare undergraduates for competitive admissions into professional graduate programs and/or prepare students for leadership and administrative positions within a health care environment. 
The dean of the School of Health Professions seeks an individual who has the ability to leverage the existing strengths of the school and create a meaningful impact by strengthening academic health programming at the institution.  The successful candidate will provide academic and administrative leadership to implement and develop the programs and to enhance the school’s impact on teaching, service, and scholarship.  The candidate will facilitate intradepartmental/inter-school and external collaborations to ensure the establishment of excellent programs through the promotion of a collegial and collaborative environment that ensure the programs thrive. 
Essential functions:
  • PhD and BS program director will oversee all aspects of day-to-day administration of the programs and fulfill all the duties of a program director
  • Develop all elements of the academic programs’ planning including enrollment projections and management, recruitment efforts, admissions oversight, and identification of program faculty
  • Oversee maintenance and development of program communications materials including catalog, website, and other marketing content
  • Coordinate the establishment of curriculum and required student support services with other school-based and institutional offices
  • Develop and teach courses designed for students in both the PhD and BS programs
  • Teach in one or more of the programs’ specialty tracks in lecture, online, or hybrid modalities
  • Develop program courses and a related program assessments
  • Collaborate and create supportive partnerships both within and outside the programs, school, and university
  • Support the future growth and expansion of the programs with other faulty and colleagues
  • Oversee the development of course materials and program requirements (development of syllabi/course outlines and expected outcomes)
  • Advise and mentor students
     
Requirements: 
  • Ph.D. or doctoral degree from an accredited institution with experience and/or expertise in one of the programs’ relevant disciplines/areas of concentration (Education, Leadership, or Health Sciences)
  • Demonstration of significant and successful administrative experience in a university setting
  • Strong, independent organizational and managerial skills, including leadership or project management of complex assignments or tasks
  • Understanding of online education best practices and state and federal regulations related to the delivery of online academic programs and the willingness to learn and implement instructional technologies effectively
  • Teaching and service experience at an institution of higher education
  • Experience in program and curriculum development, and the ability to oversee diverse students and programs’ disciplines
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to collaborate with faculty, staff, students, and community partners
  • Experience with institutional accreditation and/or program accreditation and the regulations related to the establishment and operations of effective academic programs in the State of Texas
  • Ability to set and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work both independently and as an effective team member
