The Glenn Biggs Institute for Alzheimer's & Neurodegenerative Diseases in the Joe R. and Teresa Lozano Long School of Medicine at UT Health San Antonio is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider with expertise in treating Geriatric Medicine and Palliative Care patients. The specialist faculty position will be in our Supportive & Comprehensive Care clinic at the Center for Brain Health building, and may include home visits for Palliative Care patients. The supervising physician would be Dr. Angelica Davila, the Clinic Director.
We are seeking an advanced practice provider, either a PA or a NP, who is interested in being part of a comprehensive, multidisciplinary team. Our clinic team includes geriatricians, neurologists, neuropsychologists, nurses, social workers, geriatric psychiatrists, therapists, counselors, community health workers, and care managers. We are a site for the GUIDE program (Guiding an Improved Dementia Experience). This program is geared towards provided support for homebound patients with memory disorders. Providers with experience caring for persons with Alzheimer's disease or other dementias are particularly welcome.
The day to day workflow will include seeing patients in the clinic or in home visits from 8-5 during weekdays. Our social worker and genetics counselor are located within the clinic and can assist with patients during their provider visit or at a later time. Our community health workers assist with caregiver support and training.
The Biggs Institute, led by founding Director, Dr. Sudha Seshadri, is a flagship institute within the Joe R. & Teresa Lozano Long School of Medicine with the mission of establishing an interdisciplinary, integrated program to provide comprehensive clinical care and undertake innovative and important research into the prevention and treatment of Alzheimer's disease and other neurodegenerative conditions, including vascular contributions to dementia, Parkinson's and Lewy body dementia, chronic traumatic encephalopathy and frontotemporal dementia.

Benefits Overview
UT Health San Antonio offers an excellent benefits package for its employees. Employees who work at least 20 hours a week, with an appointment of at least 4.5 months, are eligible for benefits.
Medical- UT SELECT Medical insurance is offered free for fulltime employees and administered by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas. Family members can be added to the plan through payroll deduction. Retirement- Employees are eligible for either the Teacher Retirement System (TRS) or the Optional Retirement Plan (ORP). TRS is a defined benefit retirement plan which UT Health matches employee contributions. ORP is for eligible faculty staff employees. Voluntary retirement programs are also available to invest before- or after-tax dollars with the choice of five quality retirement plan providers.
Time Off- A generous leave program offers multiple paid leave options:
Front-loaded Paid Time Off: 128 to 208 hours (16 to 26 days) of Paid Time Off based on years of service, given at the start of each fiscal year. PTO may be prorated in year one based on date of hire.
Extended Illness Bank: 8 hours (1 day) accrued per month which can be used for illness or injury after one day of Paid Time Off is taken.
Paid Family Leave: Up to 240 hours (6 weeks) to care for a spouse, child, or parent after 6 months of consecutive employment.
Holidays: 12 set paid holidays each fiscal year.
