Job Summary:

Under direct supervision, responsibilities include on-site operating room (OR) donation and transplant support and scheduling, provision of pulsatile perfusion in donated kidneys, and reviewing and communicating donor history surgical team.

 

Job Duties:

  1. Coordinates the surgical recovery, allocation, and transport of transplantable organs.
  2. Understands and demonstrates proper OR techniques and UNOS guidelines for flushing, packaging, and transporting organs in a safe manner.
  3. Establishes PAR and maintains pulsatile perfusion equipment, supplies, and instrumentation
  4. Initiates, manages, and tracks pulsatile perfusion on donated kidneys and livers recovered for transplantation.
  5. Assists in transplant and non-transplant surgical services.
  6. Follow OPTN policies for labeling donor organs
  7. Follows OPTN policies for labeling, packaging, and storing vessels.
  8. Performs all other duties as assigned.

 

Education:

  • Certified Surgical Technician, Surgical Technician, Sterile Processing Technician, Anesthesia Technician, LVN, or Health Care related field is required.

 

Experience:

  • One to two (1-2) years of experience within an OR setting; or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.

 

Licenses and Certification:

  • An active Texas LVN License or Certified Surgical Technologist is preferred.
