Job Summary:

Under general supervision, responsible to help improve the supply chain/purchasing operations and re-evaluates the purchasing activities across the institution. The Strategic Sourcing Specialist will work with vendors on pricing and service agreements and will work with operational business departments to better understand the needs of our internal customers. Identifies through investigation and communication, significant improvement opportunities, suggesting ways in which to realize cost savings. Monitors purchasing activity to ensure that goods and services are purchased from suppliers developed through the strategic sourcing process.

Job Duties:

  1. Reviews informal and formal solicitations, Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and Invitations for Bids (IFBs). Researches, drafts, and develops complex and strategic scopes of work and specification statements for an unlimited range of goods and services. Analyzes bids and proposals for responsiveness and responsibility and conformance to specifications.
  2. Collaborates with the Business Contracts Team to help negotiate terms and conditions including change orders, attends project meetings to review contract issues, performs contract administration duties, and monitors contract compliance. Recommends contract award and prepares award documentation.
  3. Has oversight for strategic procurements, complex solicitations, high-impact purchases, and other procurement projects. Helps to identify, develop, and implement sourcing strategies and savings projects.
  4. Performs analysis to identify opportunities for more economical purchases by reviewing past purchases. Opportunities include consolidating procurements, help establish annual contracts, and finding opportunities for joint procurements. Proactively identifies process improvement opportunities.
  5. Responsible for coordinating and preparing the engagement of vendors and internal stakeholders to advance sourcing initiatives. Help establish and maintain effective business community relations, and function as liaison between University and vendors; provide procurement direction to vendors and other external customers.
  6. Performs all other duties as assigned.

Education:

Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, engineering or related field is required.

Experience:

Three (3) years of related experience is required.

Prior Healthcare or Hospital experience preferred.
