Job Summary:

Under minimal supervision, works in basic and translational science research laboratory located in the Greehey Children's Cancer Research Institute (Kurmasheva lab). Animal research experience (in vivo experimentation in mice) and basic molecular biology and cell culture experimental procedures skills are important for this position. Other expectations: operates lab equipment, collects and summarizes research data, manages experiments in timely manner. Responsibilities include good record keeping routine, ability to develop publication format quality research data, learning and troubleshooting of new methods/protocols per project needs, assisting or conducting a variety of scientific experiments and research projects of limited complexity, collecting, evaluating and interpreting data for basic and preclinical research.

Job Duties:

  •  Assists in conducting a variety of scientific experiments and research projects of high complexity, collecting, evaluating, and interpreting data.
  • Assists investigator or higher level technician with research studies, experiments and assays including collection of data, preparation of solutions and set-up and maintenance of equipment.
  • Performs database queries of historical data and daily organization of data into spreadsheet for use in research studies.
  • Supervises other Research Assistants or trainees by maintaining an orderly and efficient research environment.
  • Assists in the inventory of all reagents, supplies, and other materials in the research area.
  • Ensures proper maintenance of equipment.

 Education:

 Bachelor's degree in a basic science or related field. Masters preferred.

 

Experience:

 Two (2) years experience.
