Job Summary:

Working within the Dept of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences, this position supports multiple eLearning projects funded by Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) targeting behavioral health practitioners and lay audience.  The content of the eLearning courses spans a variety of evidence-based practices and behvioral health awareness topics.  Provides leadership and direction for programming modules into eLearning software such as Articulate Storyline 360 or similar platform.  Responsible for oversight and programming 508 Level AA compliant modules.  Coordinates with graphics/animation team, writers, subject matter experts, editor, project director and funding agency.  Strong communication skills, including writing, proofreading and editing are required.  Occasional travel between San Antonio and Austin may be necessary.

Job Duties:

  1. Utilizing adult learning theory, build eLearning courses using current ADA/508 compliant software.  Assist in determining and creating design elements, themes and graphics for modules.  Improve older or outdated courses with new design and interactivity.
  2. Analyze learning needs and partners with subject matter experts to provide input for course content.  Provide feedback on module scripts.  Determine sequence and structure of learning content.
  3. Work with management to ensure course materials are current and relevant to training needs.


Bachelors degree in Instructional Technology or related field is required.


  • Five (5) years of experience is required.

  • Ability to design, build, and maintain the online e-learning environment for mental health courses.

  • Experience with using system planning for efficient and accurate Canvas and SharePoint content.

  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to analyze, edit, and create format in e learning and education structure content.
