Job Summary:

The Senior Director of Development, Planned Giving is responsible for leading the identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of gifts, University-wide, primarily major gifts, planned gifts and to also include from individuals, alumni, foundations and corporations, and through other donor development strategies such as annual giving programs and donor special events, to achieve the philanthropic goals of UT Health San Antonio and support its strategic institutional priorities.  Oversees all aspects of the donor development process for a substantial portfolio of high potential donors and leads strategic development of donor relationships with UT Health San Antonio in a manner that ensures excellence in donor relations to close gifts and maximize donor participation in the mission of the UT Health San Antonio, its schools, centers and institutes and other key initiatives. In addition, works to incorporate estate planning tools into major gifts fundraising to refine and improve the gift administration, and collaborates with University leaders to advance University’s goals.


Job Duties:

1.  Identifies, cultivates, solicits, and stewards philanthropic support through a variety of donor development strategies including planned and major gifts, individual and annual giving, foundation grants, events, and alumni activities.

2.  Develops donor and prospect relationships to increase the number of donors, university wide, and expand donor support for University priorities.

3.  Manages a portfolio including high potential prospects and donors and leads strategic development of new donor relationships with the University including planning and coordination of donor cultivation strategies and gift solicitation for major gifts and cultivation of planned gifts. 

4.  Plans and implements short, medium and long-range fundraising plans for prospects and donors to support the development of long-term donor relationships that complement donor interests and meet current and future needs of the University.

5. Establishes and maintains effective relationships with key internal University partners including Deans, Department Chairs, Institute and Center Directors, Faculty, and University leadership and with key University volunteer partners to advance donor development and support strategic university philanthropy.


Bachelor’s degree required.


Ten years of successful fundraising experience.
