Job Summary:
Under general supervision, provides routine technical assistance in performing tasks in support of research projects. Responsibilities include assisting or conducting a variety of scientific experiments and research projects of limited complexity, collecting, evaluating and interpreting data for research in the Department of Cell Systems and Anatomy.

Job Duties:
  • Provides routine technical assistance in performing assigned and delegated tasks in support of research projects in the areas of cell lines for in vitro experiments.
  • Conducts experiments in normal and cancer cells using molecular biology techniques including measuring protein expression by Western blot.
  • Measures cell apoptosis using methods including flow cytometry caspases activity, DNA fragmentation assay, and TUNEL assay.
  • Isolation of plasmids using different scales (mini-prep and maxi-prep).
  • Measures transcription levels of genes using real time PCR.
  • Responsible for analyzing data and providing statistical analysis of the collection of data. Act as the primary contact person for generating and analyzing data.
  • Carries out general laboratory maintenance to include ordering regents and organizing the laboratory as well as maintaining data, hard copies, and electronic files from experiments.

Education:
Bachelor's in a basic science is required. Preferred experience in performing immunoperoxidase and immunofluorescence assays.
