Job Summary:

The STRONG STAR (South Texas Research Organizational Network Guiding Studies on Trauma And Resilience) Consortium and the Consortium to Alleviate PTSD (CAP) are looking for a motivated individual to support funded studies treating PTSD and comorbid disorders in active duty Military Service Members and Veterans. This position will serve as a vital member of our research team. The STRONG STAR and CAP teams provide much needed treatment to active duty military members and veterans through a variety of research study protocols. This position will serve as a research therapist and will receive expert training in gold standard assessments and evidence-based prevention program. This position requires daily interaction with study participants to collect data essential to treatment, coordinate with research study staff, therapists, and research investigators to meet the needs of the study participants and ensure the research protocol is followed and research objectives are met.  This position also requires a detail-oriented management of data in order to maintain data integrity. 

Job Duties:

  1. Works with project coordinators and administrative assistants to coordinate patient visits.  Attends appropriate training workshops.

  2. Provides manualized prevention program to active duty military and veteran families experiencing military-related separations and transitions.  Travels to and from families' homes when families prefer in-home sessions.

  3. Records all sessions according to the protocol for purposes of supervision, feedback and quality assurance checks.  Monitors patients and ensures patient safety, if necessary.

  4. Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor and director.  Limited travel may apply.


Education:

Bachelor's degree in an educational/social science or related field is required.


Experience:

Two (2) years of related experience is required.


Preferred: Master's degree in psychology, social work or social sciences.  Master's degree will be accepted in lieu of experience.
