Job Summary:

This position will provide administrative support to the team to coordinate a series of strategic planning meetings between STRONG STAR investigators at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio and military alcohol and substance use providers from the United States Army, Air Force, and Navy to determine potential military-relevant clinical trials testing pharmacotherapies for alcohol use disorders in active duty military populations. The position will assist in gathering scientific literature published in the area of alcohol and substance abuse prevention and treatment programs in active duty military populations.

 

Job Duties:

  1. Assists the investigator in the overall conduct of the research project as assigned. Communicates verbally and in writing as needed or as requested by the principal investigator and investigators of the project.  Coordinate regular project meetings and communicate status reports and progress to the investigators.
  2. Assist with the coordination and preparation of strategic planning meetings between STRONG STAR investigator and military alcohol and substance use providers from the United States Army, Air Force, and Navy.
  3. Assists gathering scientific literature published in the area of alcohol and substance abuse prevention and treatment programs in active duty military populations. Assists in writing literature review.
  4. Plans, organizes and conducts one or more small or moderately complex research projects according to plan; reviews progress and evaluates results.
  5. Participates in ongoing decisions regarding study design, data collection, and methodology.
  6. Serves as research study subject recruiter, interviewer, screener and evaluator of candidates for studies.
  7. Formulates research methods and suggests options for improving quality, identifies potential problems, and recommends and implements solutions.
  8. Consults with users to refine or adapt methodologies to fit research requirements; collaborates in development of new techniques and instruments.
  9. Prepares reports in response to inquiries from performance sites or regulatory organizations under supervision of the investigator.
  10. Maintains project documentation for study sites including contact lists, correspondence, reporting documentation, and compliance data according to standardized procedures.

 

Education:

Bachelor's degree in an educational/social science or related field is required.

 

Experience:

Two (2) years of related experience is required.

 

Preferred:

Previous experience working in military or veteran mental health settings is preferred.
