Job Summary:
Under limited supervision, responsible for recruiting patients for research studies and obtaining informed consent as delegated by principal investigator, co-investigators, research nurses, and research coordinators with University Health System. Monitors/records patient response to treatment and communicates study data and results to investigators and other research team members. Also responsible for clinical duties and administrative duties including data record keeping and IRB paperwork, knowledge of Microsoft Programs required.

Job Duties:
  • Perform clinical duties including diagnostic tests, collecting specimens and obtaining blood from Clinical Nurses.
  • Serves as research study subject recruiter, interviewer, screener and evaluator of candidates for studies.
  • Perform clinical duties including diagnostic tests, collecting specimens and obtaining blood from Clinical Nurses.
  • Formulates research methods and suggests options for improving quality, identifies potential problems, and recommends and implements solutions.
  • Consults with users to refine or adapt methodologies to fit research requirements: collaborates in development of new techniques and instruments.
  • Prepares reports in response to inquiries from performance sites or regulatory organizations under supervision of the investigator.
  • Maintains project documentation for study sites including contact lists, correspondence, reporting documentation, and compliance data according to standardized procedures.

Education:
Bachelor's degree in an educational/social science or related field is required.

Experience:
Two (2) years of Clinical Research experience is required. Experience taking vital signs, performing diagnostic test and obtaining blood with additional experience enrolling patients in research studies. Bilingual- Spanish/English beneficial. 

Able to work in a busy environment, and multitask. Ability to work in a dynamic, interdisciplinary environment and capable of self-direction with long periods of indirect supervision. Position requires occasional periods of non-standard work schedule (e.g., evening or weekend) to accomplish duties. Occasional travel within the metropolitan area to meet with organizational representatives, and on selected projects, engage in duties at collaborative sites such as SAMMC.
