Job Summary:
Responsible for recruiting patients for research studies and obtaining informed consent as delegated by principal investigator, co-investigators, research nurses, and research coordinators with University Health System. Monitors/records patient response to treatment and communicates study data and results to investigators and other research team members. Also responsible for clinical duties and administrative duties including data record keeping and IRB paperwork, knowledge of Microsoft Programs required.

Job Duties:
  • Assists in conducting research projects according to the research plan/project.
  • Performs duties in support of research project such as scheduling research subjects, obtaining research data, organizing data, researching records and entering data in a research database.
  • Assist in conducting literature reviews and maintains information. Assists in the maintenance of information and literature, and keeps current on literature and developments in the areas of research. Prepares materials for publication.
  • Trains and guides other lower level research support personnel in techniques; explains and demonstrates instrument capabilities, operations, limitations and outcomes.
  • Perform clinical duties including diagnostic tests, collecting specimens and obtaining blood from Clinical Nurses.

Education:
Bachelor's degree in an educational/social science is required.

Experience:
Up to one (1) year Clinical Research experience is required. Experience taking vital signs and performing diagnostic test with additional experience enrolling patients in research studies, consenting patients and families preferred. Bilingual- Spanish/English beneficial. 

Able to work in a busy environment, and multitask. Ability to work in a dynamic, interdisciplinary environment and capable of self-direction with long periods of indirect supervision. Position requires occasional periods of non-standard work schedule (e.g., evening or weekend) to accomplish duties. Occasional travel within the metropolitan area to meet with organizational representatives, and on selected projects, engage in duties at collaborative sites such as SAMMC.
