Job Summary:

This position is a fully grant-funded position working within the Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences department. Responsible for attaining laboratory or department research, marketing, fiscal, and staffing goals to conform to institutional goals.

Job Duties:

  1. Oversees the department’s revenue cycle activities by proactively identifying, diagnosing, troubleshooting, and resolving issues or barriers to revenue maximization.
  2. Identifies research and development areas that should be investigated.
  3. Establishes and communicates operating procedures, practices, and guidelines.
  4. Collaborates with physicians and management teams on revenue cycle, coding, and coding education to ensure accurate, complete, and timely coding and billing activity.
  5. Establishes, monitors, and controls schedules and project budgets.
  6. Plans, organizes and manages the work of research and support staff.
  7. Assists department leadership with revenue operational functions to ensure revenue flow is aligned with the department's strategic goals.
  8. Responsible for negotiation of research contracts.
  9. Provides financial/business support in charge of capture, denials management, billing, and compliance within the department and clinical sites.
  10. Serves as an internal liaison with other departments that have revenue, coding concerns/questions, and work closely with Compliance to ensure departmental compliance with institutional policies, procedures, and protocols.


  • Bachelor's degree is required.


  • Ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience is required. Prior experience working with substance abuse programs and grants.
  • Knowledge of and experience with project/program management, including contract management, proposals/grants, and compliance (research, regulatory, federal). 
  • Seven (7) years of prior leadership/management experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with IRB and other regulatory and agency/department management.
  • Ability to coordinate the diverse components by quality project planning, execution, and change control to achieve the required balance of time, cost, quality, and results.
  • Ability to lead and collaborate in a team-oriented and goal-focused environment.
  • Must have strong problem-solving skills; ability to develop solutions to complex research problems.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.


  • Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC) preferred.
