Job Summary:

Responsible for the enforcement of institute, state and federal laws and regulations in the protection of life and property in service to the institution's community.


Job Duties:

1. Preserves the peace through the use and execution of all lawful means, interceding when authorized by law, to prevent or suppress crime. 2. Patrols buildings and grounds checking locked doors and windows and investigates suspicious activity or individual(s). 3. Performs law enforcement functions in the areas of patrol, security, investigations, gang activity prevention, and surveillance. 4. Utilizes proper means to ensure the safety and security of people, property and equipment throughout the institution�s community. 5. Enforces traffic law by detecting violations, making violator contacts, placing violators in custody or issuing citations/warnings. Investigates motor vehicle collisions. 6. Provides service, information, and directions to students, employees and visitors. 7. Performs all other duties as assigned.


Education:

High school diploma or GED  


Experience:

Successful completion of a TCLEOSE approved Basic Peace Officer Course, has passed TCLEOSE exam.



Experience preferred but not required. Candidate must be willing to work nights, holidays and weekends. Selected candidate will be assigned to one of three shifts depending upon departmental needs at time of hire.
