Job Summary:
This position will support the UT Health San Antonio MD Anderson Cancer Center Pharmacy Department. Under general supervision, responsible for providing a variety of supportive duties related to the packaging, storage, recording, and delivery of pharmaceuticals and related supplies.

Job Duties:
  1. Prepares sterile medications, including hazardous and investigational drugs, using aseptic and negative-pressure technique in accordance with guidelines on the preparation of hazardous drugs.
  2. Oversees pharmaceutical and supply inventory management.
  3. Maintain medication kits and dispensing units in various clinics to ensure inventory accountability and within date use.
  4. Perform and run reports related to medication use and critically assess needs for restock, use, expiration, or drug return.
  5. Responsible for the proper handling and receipt of hazardous and investigational drugs in-line with national recommendations and site policies.
  6. Performs all other duties as assigned.
Education:
High school diploma or GED is required.
Registered with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy (this is required for state licensing).
Certified pharmacy technician certification in good standing
PTCB Certified

Experience:
One (1) year related experience is required.

Preferred Experience:
Certified in the process of sterile compounding
Certification in the preparation of hazardous drugs (e.g., chemotherapy)
Completion/Graduate of a formal Pharmacy Technician Curriculum through an accredited body or equivalent (may have experience meeting state requirements and at least two (2) years experience as an admixture technician)
Minimum 2 years of experience in sterile compounding
Minimum 0-1 years of oncology or chemotherapy compounding
Experience with performing clinical trial research is recommended
