Job Summary:

This position plays a key role in the Office of Institutional Research and will provide leadership and guidance to a small team. The Manager will also support a wide range of projects to include data visualization, database design, departmental goals, and reporting. This role will create and maintain planning tools, develop database reports, and prepare materials to advance the work of the Institutional Data Council and its subcommittees.


Work Schedule:  Hybrid work schedule.  Primarily remote work.

Job Duties:

  1. Develops departmental goals, audit implementation of goals and strategies, and evaluates outcomes and results.
  2. Plans, organizes, and coordinates departmental projects.
  3. Translate information into a visual context, such as interactive dashboards and graphs, to make data easier to understand and pull insights from. Build interactive dashboards for stakeholders to identify patterns, trends and outliers in large data sets or across data sets.
  4. Extracts and collects data for performing queries and writing reports.
  5. Performs quality assurance and testing for all reports.
  6. Creates, designs, develops, test and deploys complex database reports
  7. Programs reports of internal/external reports to internal/external stakeholders.
  8. Serves as the co-facilitator on the Institutional Data Council; creates and maintains planning tools to facilitate the work of committees and workgroups; develop, maintain, and regularly report on metrics to assess progress.
  9. Drafts reports and prepares memoranda, presentations, and related materials for use by committees and workgroups.
  10. Develops and maintains productive and effective working relationships across the university.
  11. Leads and mentors a small team.
  12. Trains new and less experienced programmers in database management procedures.



Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Information Technology, or a related discipline is required.



A minimum of five years of related experience is required, preferably in a college or university setting.

At least two years supervisory or lead experience.

Has the authority to direct the work of others, hire or fire employees, or provide recommendations as to the hiring, firing, advancement, promotion or any other change of status of other employee.
