Job Summary: 

Position is responsible for the implementation of operations and strategic planning to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, as it related to post-award administration. The position will be responsible for ensuring excellent customer service and quality assurance for UT Health San Antonio's Principal Investigators (PIs). Ensures that PIs have accurate and timely information to make decisions regarding their portfolio of sponsored awards. This role is critical to supporting and enhancing UT Health SA sponsored programs mission. 

Job Duties:

  • Manages strategic planning initiatives and establishes project objectives to ensure appropriate use of financial, administrative, and/or staffing resources, and alignment with the strategic plan.
  • Provides operational direction to the post-award specialist team. Train, coach and develop team members to maintain trusted advisory relationships with research community and other key stakeholders to enhance service experience.
  • Serves as the primary escalation contact for PIs, OSP, or other members of the sponsored program community during instances of post-award service inconsistencies or issues. Responsible for ensuring service resolution and proactively mitigating future service issues.
  • Collaborates with the OSP to ensure coordination of post-award service and process handoffs occur seamlessly and without interruption.
  • Evaluates reporting and data analysis, including historical trends, future projections, and burn rates, of the UT Health SA’s sponsored programs portfolio.
  • Supports PIs in understanding of sponsored programs administration financial and compliance stewardship, ensures that PIs have accurate and timely information to make decisions regarding their portfolio of sponsored awards.
  • Collaborates with various stakeholders, research leadership, principle investigators, and senior leadership to ensure post-award activities align with UTHSA’s strategic research mission.
  • Assesses administrative processes that create challenges for the research community and plays an active role in recommending and implementing solutions.
  • Facilitates workflow and processes in conjunction with pre-award and financial transactions to ensure highest level of seamless customer support.
  • Manages and facilitates service-oriented training and outreach to communicate and advise on policies and procedures related to post-award research administration operations.

Job Requirements:

Bachelor's degree required, Master's preferred. Five (5) years of sponsored programs administration or sponsored programs accounting experience and two (2) years of supervisory experience required.
