Job Summary:

 

This position directs research administration in the Department of Medicine and is directly responsible for a $25 million research portfolio.  This role manages grant operations, financial planning, and Pre-and Post-Award management activities and provides professional expertise in the complex areas of sponsored research contracts and agreements, subcontracts, clinical trial agreements, and material transfer agreements.

How you'll make an impact:

  • Partners with the institutional Office of Sponsored Programs to prepare and transfer, pre-award, post-award and grant renewal applications.
  • Assists faculty with finding funding opportunities and counsels on the unique requirements of each call for proposals.  Assists with preparation and submission of study proposals, grants, and associated documents to funding organizations supporting animal and human research.
  • Prepares, negotiates, and manages research budgets and contracts including invoicing for services provided and ensures payments are submitted to vendors and patients in a timely fashion.
  • Monitors resource allocations and ensures that funds are used in accordance with external sponsors’ policies.
  • Ensures compliance with all internal and external regulatory requirements including NIH reporting requirements, IRB proposals, annual renewals, and protocol amendments.
  • Serves as liaison and/or participates in regulatory audits, inspections, site visits, and/or internal reviews.
  • Manages a team of four direct report and four indirect reports and provides guidance, appraising productivity and efficiency, handling complaints/grievances and disciplining when necessary.

What you'll need:

 

  • Bachelor's degree is required
  • Master's degree is preferred.
  • Nine(9) years experience in research or related administration is required
  • Demonstrated leadership experience.
