Job Summary:
Serve as a strategic thought leader who develops and provides a broad range of public relations activities and strategic communications on behalf of the Office of the President and the institution at large. This may include enterprise-wide initiatives, community activities, internal/external events and integrated public and media relations functions, which further elevates the brand, presence and thought leadership on behalf of UT Health San Antonio.  This position will work closely with the President, the Chief of Staff, the Vice President of Marketing Communications, the Vice President of Institutional Advancement and other senior leaders to raise awareness of UT Health San Antonio and the importance of the academic health center. Build strong relationships internally and externally including external stakeholders, other partners, the media, etc. This position will also work closely with Communications staff to align messaging for strategy, brand management and employee engagement. 

Job Duties:
1.  Develop and maintain a comprehensive PR plan and public/media relations program that elevates the brand, presence and thought leadership of UT Health San Antonio in addition to increasing the brand/reputation of the president and key senior leaders.

2. Coordinates the execution of senior level and presidential communications. Secures highly visible feature stories/appearances in leading national and international media outlets as well as local publications. Identifies and contributes content for strategic writing opportunities: blogs, op-eds, social media content, fact sheets, letters to the editor, and web site content. Works in collaboration with media officers and marketing teams to maintain and carry out PR benefits of the university.

3. In coordination with the senior leadership, manages all content across president’s primary social media accounts, including scheduling and editing of internal content requests and original content development. Follows best practices in frequency posting per channel. Ensure messaging consistency in all social media communications. Monitors activity/comments on social media accounts and responds as needed.

4. Contributes to overall social media strategy, particularly as it relates to PR and reputation management, including developing relevant hashtags and themes for social media. Track and report social media metrics.

Education:
Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism or comparable degree.

Experience:
Seven (7) years related experience in public relations, corporate communications/media, journalism. 
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience or knowledge in executive/senior level public relations desirable. Spanish-speaking candidate is desirable.
