Job Summary:

This mission-critical role will manage a team responsible for the on-going advancement and operational support of UT Health’s Clinical Information Systems (CIS) software suite of applications. The Director will provide senior leadership for all related CIS activities and be responsible for the management of the application support resources that address ongoing workflow improvements/redesign, modification and/or addition of system data and clinical content, problem resolution/escalation, change management, testing, and internal communications and training. In this highly visible role, the Director will work to develop and maintain effective relationships among major stakeholders including faculty physicians, clinical department leaders, administration, and executive governance.

 

Job Duties: 

  1. Plan and manage the day-to-day activities of the CIS project team including prioritization of work, coordination of resources to, ensure completion of high-quality deliverables including (but not limited to) design documentation, build audits, test plans, and test scripts, benefit objectives, and associated performance metrics, end-user training, and implementation plans.
  2. Manage the CIS project tasks and team members so that the project milestones, intermediate deadlines, and operationally efficient decisions are delivered on time and on budget.
  3. Demonstrates CIS to other providers to assist in their understanding of the benefits of the system. Assists with solving project-related, operational, and technical problems as needed.
  4. Provides direction, leadership, and decision-making to staff on all CIS related projects. Meets regularly with the team to review project activities, consultant performance, and management strategies.
  5. In partnership with the CMIO, intercepts, and intervenes with providers who are encountering challenges with the acceptance and/or use of CIS.
  6. Assist the Health-IT CIO in the development of annual budgets for IT and CIS departments.

Education: 

  • Bachelor's degree in a clinically related discipline from an accredited university required (demonstrated years of experience may be considered in lieu of the advanced degree).  
  • Master’s degree in a related field or Nursing strong preferred 
  • At least ten (10) years directly related experience, to include five (5) years of clinical operational experience in an ambulatory healthcare setting with significant EpicCare experience required.
  • Demonstrated experience with CIS implementations, process improvement, and quality control.
  • Strong presentational and oral communication skills be a strong team-builder and have a collaborative leadership and communication style.
  • Knowledge of healthcare organizations including organizational structure, administration, operations, clinical competencies, quality and safety issues, financial management, compliance and risk and other organizational areas
  • Experience working in an academic medical center or health science center preffered.

Certifications:

  • Certified Project Management Professional (PMP) from the Project Management Institute (PMI) preferred
  • Certified in EpicCare Ambulatory.
