Job Summary:

Reporting to the Clinical Information Officer (CIO), the Director of Business Intelligence and Data Analytics will champion and provide leadership for the ongoing development and advancement of a BI/Data Analytics strategy focused on data warehousing, data mining, data structuring, advanced visualization, and related technologies in furthering the missions of the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio.

 

Job Duties:

  1. Provide BI/Data Analytics thought leadership and consultative guidance to apprise stakeholders on the value potential of data.
  2. Develop and lead an early-stage multi-disciplinary team to establish the next generation of data marts, data modeling, reporting, analytics, decision support, standards/governance, and the BI/Data Analytics platform. 
  3. Work collaboratively with all functional units to assess needs and solutions, and implement an enterprise strategy for leveraging Health-IT investments and data to drive actionable insights and sound decision making
  4. Guide all phases of BI/Data Analytics and data warehouse development life cycle, including requirement gathering, analysis, design, development, testing, and implementation.
  5. Partner with clinical and health services researchers to develop an analytics infrastructure that will underpin a broad-based population health science program.

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a scientific, business, or technical field required.
  • Master's Degree strongly preferred.

Qualifications:

  • Seven (7) years of directly related experience participating in all phases of BI/Data Analytics such as, development life cycle including requirements gathering, analysis, data modeling, and maintenance of large-scale integrated relational database systems.
  • Five (5) years of experience within the Health Information Technology required.
  • Experience working with EPIC Care required.
  • Five (5) years of progressive experience managing robust business intelligence, decision support, and industrial analytical toolsets (examples would include Microsoft BI, Cognos, SAS, and/or Business Objects).
