Job Summary

 This position provides “digital content curation” to write, edit, and communicate health content and messages as part of the communication team for the Institute for Health Promotion Research (IHPR) at UT Health San Antonio. Under general supervision, assists in the production of numerous internal and external communication vehicles including newsletters, email communications, presentations, websites, social media, press releases and more to maintain a favorable public image for the organization.


Job Duties:

  1. Defines communication needs, develops detailed communication plans and leads execution of plans.
  2. Duties include copy writing, editing and proofing content, managing social media accounts, updating web pages, preparing content for magazine publication and uses email management, online surveys and digital asset management platforms.
  3. Supports project coordination and daily workflows by engaging with cross-functional teams.
  4. Manages communications for UT Health San Antonio community and acts as content owner for intranet page.
  5. Prepares communications, often with quick turnaround, for department.
Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, public health, technical writing or a related field in the sciences and/or humanities. 
Experience:
  • Two (2) years related experience in communications is required.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish).
  • Knowledge and/or strong interest in health awareness, health disparities, and environmental health strongly preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication/journalism skills, especially in writing for news media, blogs and social media, conducting public relations-type activities, alongside demonstrated skills in writing, editing, proofing, and ability to effectively communicate information and ideas in written, digital, and video formats.
  • Experience utilizing the latest tools to measure the impact of digital content, webpages, and social media; particularly with WordPress, Google Analytics, Social Report, Hootsuite, and Symplur Signals.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, WordPress, and various web/e-communications programs (e.g., mass email systems, etc.).
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently or collaboratively to produce high-quality deliverables.
  • Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and an expansive editorial/marketing calendar.
