Clinical Research Nurse - Associate (Neurosurgery)
Job Summary:
Under direct supervision, responsible for coordinating and participating in clinical research studies conducted by the principal investigator, including recruitment, collection, compilation, documentation, and clinical research data analysis. Assists in determining guidelines for the collection of clinical data and/or administration of clinical studies for the Department of Neurosurgery.
Job Duties:
- Screen, enroll, and evaluate participants to study the impact of various neurological conditions.
- Verifies eligibility, completes screening procedures, schedules and conducts study visits, collects and processes data collection, completes research related forms, completes electronic data entry, and maintains study subject data.
- Assists with administering appropriate drugs/devices/infusions to participants as specified in protocols.
- Instructs and counsels patients in research procedures, including administration, monitoring, recording, and analyzing data.
- Ensures compliance with all federal and local regulations.
- Monitors close-out of studies and ensures records are retained for the appropriate length of time.
- Reviews goals and requirements of any new protocols; plans and designs source documentation for the protocol; and coordinates study initiation.
- Coordinates and manages clinical research projects for Principal Investigator via study protocol, including assessment, planning, evaluation, and intervention for study participants' well-being.
Education:
- An Associate’s degree in a scientific discipline or related is required. Bachelors degree in Nursing strongly preferred.
Experience:
- One (1) year of nursing experience in the designated study area is required.
- Licensed in the State of Texas as a Registered Nurse.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule and travel to different clinics/locations in San Antonio as needed.
- Certified in basic cardiac life support. Good Clinical Practice and/or human subject protection training.
- Certified as a Clinical Research Coordinator (CCRC) and/or Clinical Research Professional (CCRP) preferred.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work with all levels of staff.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
- Ability to multi-task and manage multiple competing priorities. Ability to work under pressure and meet study deadlines.
