Job Summary:

Manages, plans, and coordinates all activities within a laboratory. Maintains the quality and timeliness of all laboratory operations within budgetary guidelines.

Job Duties:

  1. Manages laboratory services, including workflow, administrative procedures, operations, and strategic planning in order to maintain an efficient laboratory environment.
  2. Ensures appropriate lab compliance with accrediting agency regulations.
  3. Develops and implements quality control procedures and ensures documentation is in compliance and up to date with ISO guidelines.
  4. Establishes goals, and schedules for the laboratory.
  5. Oversees laboratory safety policies, implements training, and monitors department for compliance.
  6. Coordinates laboratory administration; manages and authorizes all purchasing expenditures for supplies and equipment; ensures that all required equipment is maintained and properly functioning.
  7. Management duties include interviewing, selecting, and training employees; planning and directing work; appraising productivity and efficiency for the purpose of recommending promotions or other changes in their status; handles complaints and grievances and administers discipline when necessary.
  8. Performs all other duties as assigned.

Education:

Bachelors's degree in basic sciences or related field is required.

Experience:

Five (5) years of experience with increasing responsibilities that are directly related to the assigned laboratory is required. Experience working in an inpatient setting and prior project management experience is preferred. 

Requires at least two (2) years of experience in leading and/or supervising laboratory personnel and activities.

MLS or MT certification from ASCP is needed for the role.
