Job Summary:

Under general supervision, responsible for assisting with compiling, analyzing and interpreting data. Collaborates closely with all areas of clinical enterprise to measure outcomes and effectiveness of implemented improvement systems.

 

Job Duties:

1. Assist and coordinate the implementation of the Laboratory Information System (LIS) with each user and ensure satisfactory performance of the application.

2. Ensure the continuous operation of the LIS by troubleshooting, monitoring system upgrades, and working with the LIS vendor.

3. Assist in the design of various databases and, as needed, use data query and data analytics tools to support collaborative initiative.

4. Troubleshoot and maintain the network of system interfaces to the LIS from other EMR and LIS systems interfaced to our main LIS by working in conjunction with other vendors.

5. Maintain and modify the LIS test library and components as needed on the application.

6. Maintain competency and knowledge of regulations that pertain to information security and rules pursuant to the UTHSCSA and accreditation guidelines.

7. Prepares reports and conducts analyses based on measures of process and outcomes of care. Produces recurring and ad-hoc reports and dashboards as needed.

 

Education:  

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or related field is required.

Experience:  

  • Two (2) years related experience is required.

  • Prior experience working with Orchard software and modules preferred; Familiarity with Epic application experience a plus.

  • Highly organized, attention to detail, previous experience in an laboratory strongly preferred.

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.

  • Ability to effectively prioritize daily tasks and assignments.

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
