Job Summary:

Under direct supervision, the Clinical Business Intelligence Analyst will champion and support the ongoing development and advancement of diverse BI/Data Analytics pursuits focused on data warehousing, data mining, data structuring, advanced visualization, and related technologies in furthering the missions of UT Health San Antonio.  The Clinical Business Intelligence Analyst will provide first-tier support to counterparts from other application disciplines and end-users to successfully meet the development and implementation objectives for assigned applications.

Job Duties:

  1. Gather and analyze business requirements to perform data modeling and mapping across multiple platforms for enterprise-wide BI initiatives
  2. Apply research and evaluation standards, descriptive statistics, and data management principles to translate complex data into meaningful content.
  3. Extract, load, and transform data from transactional software systems into analytical software/BI systems.
  4. Design, create, test, and maintain a portfolio of reports, scorecards, and dashboards.
  5. Role activities include problem analysis, break/fix, design/modeling, implementation/coding, and testing.
  6. Responsible for navigating a wealth of data and turning it into actionable and insightful information.
  7. Work autonomously and collaboratively with other team members and cross-functionally, guiding to define report requirements and validate results.
  8. Develop and maintain appropriate documentation on all work products. Consult with business customers using analytical & reporting tools to develop effective clinical, cost, quality & satisfaction outcomes.
  9. Other duties as assigned.

Education:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in a scientific, technical, healthcare informatics, mathematics, or a related field is preferred. Experience in place of education can be considered.

Experience:

  • Prior relevant experience in data analytics, data science, data warehousing, data lakes and marts, metadata management, and dimensional modeling is preferred.
  • Prior experience in a healthcare environment is preferred.
  • Must possess demonstrated critical and analytical thinking proficiencies and troubleshooting competencies.
  • Demonstrate the ability to understand troubleshoot software issues
  • Organizational management skills and knowledge to multitask
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency with sophisticated analytics tools and programming languages (SAS, R, Python, Java, Spark, Hadoop, Alteryx, SQL); proficiency with data visualization tools (Tableau, QlikView, and others) strongly preferred.

Certifications:

  • Certified in Tableau, Epic Cogito Data Warehouse & Caboodle Data Model preferred.
  • The ability to become Epic certified for assigned modules within eighteen (18) months of hire is required per Epic Corporation standards.
  • The ability to obtain additional certifications for assigned software analytical tools (such as Tableau or Power BI) within thirty-six (36) months of hire is required per Health-IT department standards.
