Job Summary:

This junior-level role would work closely with the Director of Finance & Administration by providing support in the daily management and operations of a busy academic medical practice in the surgical subspecialties of Neurosurgery and Neuro-Critical Care. This role will monitor department revenue and expenses and explain budget variances, expenditures, account oversight, invoice reconciliation, and develop forecasting models for effective and efficient operations and compliance management.


  1. Manages daily departmental operations related to areas of financial and administrative management. Utilizing interpersonal skills, build interdepartmental and external collegial relationships to support the Department’s mission.
  2. Manages the Department’s practice plan budget and all funds budget, including coordinating the compilation and distribution of operational and financial reports at the faculty and department level. Analyzes monthly variance reports and advises the Department Administrator.
  3. Assists in managing fiscal activities, including preparation of the budget, expenditure approval, and procurement. Monitors financial and operational internal controls to verify expenditures.
  4. Manages and oversees new faculty and staff recruitment to include management in recruitment, credentialing, enrollment in professional liability plans.
  5. Facilitates department’s employment coordination function and participates in employee relations.


  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Finance, or other directly related field is required.


  • Four (4) years of related accounting or business experience is required.

  • Knowledge of administrative compliance, financial reporting, and applicable business practices and procedures is required.

  • Knowledge of and ability to influence budgeting, controlling costs, planning, scheduling, and procedural change.

  • Prior leadership experience strongly preferred.

  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others; attention to detail.

  • Ability to handle highly confidential information with professionalism and integrity.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.), databases and Adobe.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
