Job Summary:

This position is located at the Mays Cancer Center Clinical Trials Officer (CTO). This position is responsible for establishing billing coverage analysis and developing clinical trial budgets for pharmaceutical sponsored, cooperative group and institutional clinical trials. Additional responsibilities include coordination of contract review, grant submission assistance and support and coverage of the Mays Cancer Center – CTO staff as needed.

Job Duties:

  1. Develops budgets for new and amended clinical trials to include the following: determination of billing risk and development of coverage analysis for pharma sponsored, cooperative group and investigator initiated Phase I, II and III hematology / oncology clinical trials.
  2. Creates and maintains study calendars and budgets in a clinical trial management system.
  3. Responsible for the Mays Cancer Center CTO pending or potential studies updates, preparation for weekly staff meetings and management of the CTO study pre-activation checklist.
  4. Works with the Office of Sponsored Programs in receiving, documenting, and reviewing, contracts and clinical trial agreements.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or related field. Related experience can be considered in lieu of degree.

Experience:

  • Three (3) years of experience in a financial administration, to include financial management, grants, clinical research and business operations.
  • Familiarity with federal regulatory requirements for the conduct of clinical research is strongly preferred.
  • Budgetary experience working with clinical trials, grant and research financials preferred.
  • Must be able to read and interpret professional journals, financial reports, and legal documents as necessary.
  • Skilled in prioritizing, planning and organizing assignments; working effectively under tight schedules, and completing tasks in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently access and retrieve information from databases, and to organize and process the data for analytical purposes.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule to include weekdays, weekends, and/or evenings if needed.
  • Must be able to work independently and as a part of a team as needed.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing on budget and cost issues.
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, financial systems and databases.
