Job Summary:

Gathers and analyzes a wide variety of data for identifying and communicating resultant findings. Selects data samples, prepares questionnaires, and analyzes collected information according to established statistical methods. Prepares reports, charts, tables, and other visual aids. Possesses and applies a broad knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures of particular field of specialization to the completion of difficult assignments. Requires continuing education with participation in and delivery of workshops and coursework to support contemporary biomedical data science. Usually works with minimum supervision, conferring with supervisors as needed. Employees typically analyze, compare and evaluate various courses of action and have the authority to make independent decisions on matters of significance, free from immediate direction, within the scope of their responsibilities. Primary activities and decision making authority are predominantly performed independently affecting business operations to a substantial degree.

 

Job Duties:

1. Gathers, analyzes, and interprets a wide variety of biomedical data. Validates datasets and analyzes collected information according to established statistical methods. Prepares reports, charts, tables, and other visual aids. Continuing education to support contemporary biomedical data science.


2. Analyze, compare and evaluate various courses of action and have the authority to make independent decisions on matters of significance, free from immediate direction, within the scope of assignment. All work will be communicated to faculty who expect clear delineation of methods, assumptions, departures from assumptions, limitations, and corrective actions. All computer code, directories, output files, and reports will be crafted to assure compliance and departmental standards.


3. Works in close collaboration with faculty, other master’s level biostatisticians, and quantitative and biomedical scientists. Excellence in written, oral, and behavioral communication skills, flexibility in approaches to data analysis with the ability to understand and implement the views and objectives of multiple perspectives, and proficiency in either R or SAS and ability to learn new statistical computing tools.


4. Performs other duties as assigned. 


Education:

Master degree in a recognized field of data and statistical science directly related to the duties of the position.


Experience:

Three to five years of related professional experience.
