Job Summary:

Within the scope of licensure and legal boundaries, provides education, assessment, treatment, and preventative services for athletic-related injuries and illnesses to assigned student-athletes, coaching staff, and members of the Athletic Department. This position will support multiple sport teams at various locations throughout San Antonio. The assignment will be determined based on the event and team. 

Job Duties:

  1. Provides athletic training services on an ongoing basis for local sports teams in the training room and on the field.
  2. Attends home and away games as assigned and agreed upon by the sports medicine faculty member or division chief.
  3. Provides outreach services by implementing preventive athletic injury programs for the athletes.
  4. Participates with the sports medicine team to plan and implement specific treatment and prevention programs for individual patients and patient/student groups.
  5. Provides athletic training services at sponsored sporting and community events.
  6. Serves as a liaison between the injured athlete, sports medicine physician, athletic director/head coach, support staff, and a physical/occupational therapist.
  7. Performs all other duties as assigned.


Bachelor's Degree in Physical Therapy or an approved program in Athletic Training, PE, or a related field is required. A Master's degree is preferred.


One (1) year of experience as an Athletic Trainer is required but related experience will be considered. 

Additional Licenses and Certifications:

A valid State of Texas Athletic License by the Texas Department of Health TOC 541 or eligibility to immediately obtain the license and Certified in First-Aid, CPR, and AED use are required.
